Spectral Organism

Sound reimagined as spatial organism

This demo showcases my approach to translating audio spectrum data into three-dimensional forms. By isolating high and low frequency bands, I generate two distinct structures, each with its own spatial and kinetic behavior. During performance, these forms can be manipulated in real time, allowing the performer to control their movement and rhythm in direct response to sound. This creates an immediate and intuitive link between audio and visual expression.

Beyond visualizing sound, the work investigates its vitality—treating sound not merely as an auditory event, but as a living presence. Through this process, sound acquires an organic agency: it breathes, flows, and responds within the space. Audiences don’t just hear the sound—they witness how it animates the environment as a sentient, responsive entity.

Tracing Air

Movement captured as flowing topography.

This demo showcases an interactive system that translates gesture into generative visuals in real time. Using a camera-based algorithm, hand movements are captured and transformed into a flowing digital landscape reminiscent of traditional ink wash paintings. Movement becomes the driving force of visual creation. I see strong potential for this technique in live music settings—particularly in translating the gestures of a conductor or featured performer into dynamic visual scenes that evolve in sync with the music, deepening the sensory connection between sound and the body.

Demo  3

The Pulse

The piece explores the real-time interaction between sound and a physics-based fluid simulation using Nvidia Flex Solver. Audio input drives the fluid's behavior, forging a sensory connection between unpredictable physical dynamics and musical expression. The fluid, flowing like blood, responds to sonic rhythms and textures, creating a visceral narrative space that evokes an instinctive awareness of the relationship between sound, matter, and emotion.

Third Nature

Between the organic, the artificial, and the imagined.

This demo presents a real-time fusion of computer-generated creatures and live-action footage—blurring the line between the organic, the artificial, and the unknown. These digital beings emerge within real environments, challenging our perception of what is natural and what is invented. As the imagery unfolds, it invites the viewer to step outside their own sensory frame—to observe from a distance, as if encountering the human species for the first time.

Where are we heading, as a collective organism?
This question sits at the heart of the piece. It marks an ongoing exploration in my practice—one I aim to expand into a full narrative experience in future live performances.
